# Plan: cut list and sheets

The Plan workspace turns the model into parts and fits them on sheets.

## Tasks

### How do I set the sheet I will buy?
1. Open **Plan**: the tables are left, the layout in the middle, the result right.
2. In **Stock (N)**, put the long side in **Width**, the short side in **Height** and the count in **Qty**, in the unit set in the **Parts (N)** header (a 275 × 130 cm panel is 275 and 130).
3. Open the row chevron and set **Material** to the parts' label, such as Plywood · 18 mm.

Labels never mix; an empty **Material** accepts any part. **Qty** is a hard limit: extra parts go to **Not placed (N)**.

### What is the 5 mm trim?
The layout keeps 5 mm free on every edge: a bought panel is not square.
- **Edge** 5 leaves 2430 × 1210 mm usable on a 2440 × 1220 mm sheet; a 2435 mm board cannot be placed.
- The trim cuts are not in the cut order, whose distances count from the drawn edge and include the 5 mm.
- **Edge** is in **Options** › **Advanced**; 0 suits a square sheet.

### How many sheets and cuts?
The card gives **You need N sheets**, **N% waste** (highlighted above 30 %) and one line per sheet size.
- Each sheet in **Layout** gives its **N cuts**.
- **Cut order (N)** lists each sheet's cuts and names the released part.

### Why is a part in Not placed?
- Bigger than every sheet: the panel names the largest sheet. Split the board in the model.
- **Qty** used up: raise it.
- **Material** differs from every sheet, or **Grain** fights it with **Allow rotation** off.
- It fits only without the **Edge** trim.

The panel states only the size case.

### Can I add a part that is not in the model?
Type in the last **Parts (N)** row or press **Add**. With a model cut list, it sits under **Added by hand**, editable; model rows are read-only. **Update cut list** keeps it.

### I changed the model. Is the list current?
No. **Update cut list** appears; **Optimize** stays blocked until you press it.
**Make the cut list** merges identical boards, drops sheets no board uses, and adds a 2440 × 1220 mm row per missing material with its own quantity.

### Where are the files, cost and offcuts?
**Report / PDF** is in the result column; **Export** in the top-left menu holds **Cut list CSV** and **Report / PDF**. **Cost per unit** is in a sheet row; the report repeats it. No offcut store exists; add a real offcut as a **Stock (N)** row.

## Facts
- Defaults: mm, **Kerf** 3 mm, **Edge** 5 mm, sheet 2440 × 1220 mm.
- **Width allowance** and **Height allowance** add to the cut size of a part.
- **Optimize** is in the top bar, or a phone bottom bar while it can run.

## What the assistant does itself
- Sheet counts: `sheets` with `sheet:[length,width]` in mm (each side 300–6000) or `stock:[{sheet,count,material}]` (8 sizes, 200 sheets each), same optimizer, a 3 mm kerf and a fixed 5 mm trim; it reports sheets, yield and unplaced boards per material.
- It sees the model only, not hand-added parts or the Plan's stock: pass the real sheet size.
- It changes the model only; the user presses **Update cut list**.
- Only the user clicks, downloads, prints, types parts and stock, and installs the app.
