# Projects and files

Fabivo keeps each project in this browser on this device. The `.cutlist.json` file is the copy you move. There is no account and no sync.

## Tasks

### How do I download this design, or open it on another computer?
**Menu** (top left) › **Download backup**. The browser saves `<project name>.cutlist.json`. Send it, then **Menu** › **Open file** on the other device. Nothing syncs. DXF, PDF and CSV files cannot rebuild a design.

### My file is called .cutlist.json. Can the installed app open it?
Yes, it is the same app: **Menu** › **Open file** opens it as a new local project and the open one stays saved. A tap on the file outside the app does not open Fabivo. A rejected file changes nothing.

### Is my work saved automatically?
Yes: 400 ms after an edit, at once after a cut or assembly step, and when the tab hides or closes. A failure shows **Retry save** and **Download backup** at the top.

### How do I start a new project?
**Menu** › **New**, then **New project**: the current project is saved, and the new one keeps units and settings. The start window covers the empty drawing; close it to draw, or press **Open a saved project** for the list.

### How do I rename or delete a project?
- Type in **Project name** at the top left, or in **Menu** below 1180 px.
- **Menu** › **Projects**: **Continue project** opens a design; the bin icon asks first, then **Delete** confirms. The open project cannot be deleted.
- **Checkpoint name** and **Save checkpoint** keep a version; **Open as a new copy** opens one.

### Can I change to centimetres or inches?
Use **Settings** › **Units** (gear, top right, or **Menu** › **Settings** on a phone), the **Units** select in the Model top bar, or mm / cm / in in the Plan parts table header. It converts parts, sheets, kerf and trim, sets 0 / 1 / 3 decimals for mm / cm / in, and marks the plan outdated: run **Optimize**.

### How do I change the language or the theme?
**Settings** › **Language**: Español, English, Nederlands. **Settings** › **Theme**: Auto, Light, Dark. Both stay on this device, not in the file.

### Is there an app to install?
Yes. In Chrome or Edge, **Menu** › **Install app** installs it when offered, also on Android. The installed app is the same site and sees this browser's projects.

### Does the app work offline?
Yes, after the first visit; the toolbar shows **Offline · local tools still work**. The assistant and a shared plan link need a connection.

### How do I bring a parts list from a spreadsheet?
**Menu** › **Import** with a `.csv`: columns for name, width, height and quantity, optional material, split by a comma, a semicolon or a tab, in the current unit. New rows add below the existing parts. A furniture model refuses the file. **Menu** › **Export** › **Cut list CSV** writes the cuts, not the parts, and needs a cut list.

## Facts

- Clearing this browser's site data deletes the projects.
- The backup holds the model, parts, sheets, plan settings, cut plan and progress; no checkpoints, language or theme.
- Checkpoints: 5 per project, 80 characters per name.
- First run: units follow the language (cm for Español and Nederlands, in for English); kerf 3 mm, edge trim 5 mm, horizontal cuts, stack identical and auto-reoptimize, converted to that unit.
- A `?plan=<slug>` link opens that published plan as a new project, once.

## What the assistant does itself

- Count sheets with `sheets` (2440 × 1220 mm by default, or the stock given), with yield and unplaced boards.
- It cannot open, save, download or import a project, change units, language or theme, or see the Plan, Cut and Assemble workspaces.
- Only the user downloads a backup, picks a file, prints and installs.
