Cut and Assemble

Cut steps through the numbered cuts at the saw. Assemble is the picture guide that builds the model. Both are tabs in the top bar.

Tasks

How many cuts are there, and in which order?

  1. Make the cut list in Plan; Cut stays disabled until the result is fresh.
  2. Each sheet heading in the Layout drawing gives its size, its cuts and its waste.
  3. Numbers run once across all sheets, sheet 1 first: that is the cut order. The card counts Cut N of M.

How do I follow the cuts at the saw?

  1. Read the card: it names the part and the strip to take, or the position to set.
  2. The current cut is solid on the sheet, the done cuts are dashed.
  3. Cut, then press Complete and next. Previous and Next move without marking. Remaining cuts lists only what is left. For a mistake, return with Previous or Next to a done cut. The card shows Done and Mark as not done. After the last cut, the card offers Undo the last cut and, with a model, Continue to Assemble. Pieces that do not fit stay out, after a warning. On a phone the sheet is above the card and Remaining cuts starts folded.

How do I see the assembly steps?

Open Assemble. It needs two boards or more, not a cut list. One card is one step, in stages. The picture shows the boards. The actions give the moves and the measured positions. Press Done — next step. A repeated module step reads ×N: press Done — next copy until the copies are done. Previous and Next step move without marking. Undo completion takes the mark back. A dotted word opens its definition. Marks stay with the project and go when the model changes.

Which screws do I need? What drill bit?

  1. Press the method button at the top right of the guide; it shows the method in use.
  2. In Which tools do you have? pick Plain screws, Confirmat screws or Pocket screws. All steps and the booklet follow the choice.
  3. Open Hardware under the steps for the item, size, quantity and parts. Drill settings on a fastening action gives the bits: confirmat 7 mm through the outer board, 5 mm in the edge, 4 mm hex; plain screws a pilot hole and a countersink; pocket screws the jig.

How do I print the assembly guide?

Press Print / Save PDF at the top right of Assemble. The booklet opens in a new window, or the same one when the pop-up is blocked. It holds the shopping list, parts, labels, glossary and steps. Print from its top bar. A model with overlapping or separate boards cannot print.

Facts

  • Cut has no trim step: the layout keeps the Edge trim clear at each edge, 5 mm by default (0 to 50 mm, set in Plan).
  • Screws: every 200 mm, at least two per joint. Nails: every 120 mm where a board is 12 mm or less.
  • Default method: confirmat when most thick boards are chipboard or MDF, else plain screws. Pocket screws are never recommended.

What the assistant does itself

  • It reads board sizes, thickness and support findings, and edits the model. An edit drops the assembly marks; the cut marks go when the layout changes.
  • For sheets it runs the same optimizer: sheets used, yield, unplaced boards. It cannot give the cut order, one sheet's cuts or the fasteners.
  • It cannot click, download or print, cannot see the three screens, or mark a cut or a step.
