Optimize plywood and melamine cut lists from ChatGPT
Fabivo has a free, public MCP server. An assistant that uses it does not guess the layout: it calls the same guillotine optimizer as Fabivo and returns how many sheets to buy, the waste and where each part goes.

What you can ask
Describe the piece or give the parts list, and the sheet size your supplier sells. For example:
"I need to build a wardrobe with 2 sides of 600 × 1800 mm and 4 shelves of 600 × 800 mm in 18 mm melamine. Use 2440 × 1220 mm sheets and optimize the cuts."
The assistant reads the request and calls Fabivo. The sizes, the saw kerf and the position of every part are calculated by Fabivo, not by the language model.
What it returns
The answer is a structured result, not an estimate:
- The number of sheets needed and the waste percentage.
- The position, size and rotation of every part on every sheet, in millimetres.
- The number of guillotine cuts.
- The parts that do not fit the sheet, with the reason.
Settings it understands
All are optional except the parts and the sheet:
- Saw kerf: 3 mm by default.
- Edge trim on every side of the sheet.
- Part rotation: turn it off when the board has a grain.
- Limits: up to 200 rows and 1000 pieces per request.
How to connect it
Add https://www.fabivo.app/api/mcp as a remote MCP server, with no authentication, in an assistant that supports custom MCP connectors. In ChatGPT this depends on the plan and on developer mode. Fabivo is not yet in the ChatGPT directory.
If you prefer not to connect anything, the web optimizer does the same, also free, with a printable plan, the cut order and exports.
Frequently asked questions
Can ChatGPT optimize a cut list?
Yes, when it uses a calculation tool. With the Fabivo MCP server, ChatGPT sends the parts and the sheet to the optimizer and reports the result. Without a tool, a language model can get the layout wrong.
Does it cost anything or need an account?
No. The server is free and needs no sign-up. Each request has a size limit to prevent abuse.
Which units does it use?
Millimetres. If you give centimetres or inches, the assistant must convert them before the call.
Does it store my data?
No. The server keeps no state and no account: it calculates the answer and returns it.
